CURRICULUM POLICY

St. John's High School is an SSC Board school recognized by the Government of Maharashtra. The exam pattern and curriculum, depends on the guidelines laid out by the state.

In keeping with its motto, "Building a better world, one student at a time", the school blends global thinking with strong local roots. The comprehensive curriculum provides students of all abilities and aptitudes with the opportunity to excel in a wide range of subjects.

Core competencies such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, cooperation, creativity, citizenship, digital literacy, student leadership, and personal development are emphasized in the classroom activities. Such a wide array of skills opens up exciting possibilities for all the students.

LESSON PLANNING​

PRE-PRIMARY

The curriculum we have designed for the pre-schoolers is quite engaging and diverse and it seeks to create confidence and independence among kids. The curriculum mainly focuses on the areas of personal and social development, communication skills, physical development, writing skills, mathematics and the society. All children are expected to take part in all activities.

St. John's High School provides a secure, welcoming and appealing environment where children can reach their full potential. We have a team of fully trained staff who make sure that learning and development of each child is taken care of.

The pre-primary section operates a 15-period weekly timetable, with three hours of lessons a day from Monday to Friday.

PRIMARY

The curriculum for the primary kids is framed for promoting learning, personal growth and development. It includes not only the academic requirements of the SSC Board but also a wide range of extra-curricular activities the school conducts to create enriching experiences for our students. We aim to teach children to grow with a positive mind-set, responsible citizens, who can work in teams, while developing knowledge, skills and attitudes, in order that they achieve their true potential. The approach takes into account the natural tendency of the young inquisitive mind of the children to acquire knowledge, understand concepts and develop skills to choose and apply knowledge in relevant situations.

The primary section operates a 50-period weekly timetable, with five hours of lessons a day and three hours on a Saturday.

SECONDARY

The secondary curriculum comprises formal syllabi provided by the SSC Board, extra curricular activities, and a hidden curriculum' where students learn from routines that happen outside the classroom. The curriculum policy and instructional strategies have been formulated in such a way that each student can achieve his/her best academic performances, whatever their individual abilities are. It has a broad and balanced approach to allow students to become successful learners who are creative and resourceful; confident individuals who respond positively to opportunities and life experiences in later life; and responsible citizens committed to human rights and strive to live in harmony with others.
